"Scoopers or "water bombers" scoop water off a lake or other body of water to drop on a nearby forest fire. Air Spray operates eleven of the CL Series on behalf of the Government of Alberta (CL215Ts) and the Government of Manitoba (CL415s and CL215).

CL215T
Air Spray operates four CL215T aircraft on behalf of the Government of Alberta. The CL215T is a twin-turbine engine, amphibious aircraft purpose-built for wildfire control. The CL-215T is a turbine update for the piston-powered CL-215.
The CL215T features an updated cockpit, aerodynamic enhancements, and modifications to the water-release system, resulting in a modern firefighting amphibious aircraft designed for detecting and suppressing forest fires. The CL215T can scoop up to 6,140 litres (1,350 imp gal; 1,620 US gal) of water from a nearby water source, mix it with a chemical foam if desired, and drop it on a fire without having to return to base to refill its tanks. |
CL215
Air Spray operates three CL215 aircraft on behalf of the Government of Manitoba. The CL215 is a twin-piston engine, amphibious aircraft purpose-built for wildfire control.
The CL215 was designed to excel in the aerial firefighting role. The aircraft is equipped with a pair of 1,400 litres (300 imp gal) water tanks, which open to discharge water over a target area rapidly. The tanks can be emptied simultaneously, individually, or in sequence, as selected by the pilot. The CL215 is an excellent aircraft for the scooper role. |
CL415
Air Spray operates four CL415 aircraft on behalf of the Government of Manitoba. The CL415 "super-scooper" is a twin-turbine engine, amphibious aircraft purpose-built for wildfire control.
The CL415 features an updated cockpit, aerodynamic enhancements, and modifications to the water-release system, resulting in a modern firefighting amphibious aircraft designed for detecting and suppressing forest fires. Compared to the CL215, the CL415 has an increased operating weight and speed, resulting in improved productivity and performance. The CL415 can scoop up to 6,140 litres (1,350 imp gal; 1,620 US gal) of water from a nearby water source, mix it with a chemical foam if desired, and drop it on a fire without having to return to base to refill its tanks. The CL415 was specifically developed to provide the capability to deliver large quantities of suppressant in quick response to fires. |
