LAND BASED AIRTANKERS

Air Spray operates a large fleet of land-based airtankers for fire protection. Our fleet of four-engine turbine-powered Lockheed L188 Electras and four-engine jet-powered, next-generation BAE 146-200s is a critical tool in the fire control toolbox. Each is loaded with fire retardant at airtanker bases near fire activity to extinguish small localized fires or create fire lines to help ground crews battle larger fires threatening forests and communities. Air Spray's land-based fleet is relied on throughout North and South America for superior wildfire control.

The L-188 Electra is one of the most effective large-capacity or "heavy" air tankers for controlling wildfires.

The L-188 Electra is fast, maneuverable and capable of carrying 3000 gallons of fire retardant. The four turbine engines of this aircraft ensure it has tremendous power and range to fight distant fires and the most extreme conditions. Coupled with the computerized constant/variable flow RADS II tank, the performance of the L-188 Electra is unsurpassed by any other turbine-powered air tanker.

Key Advantages
  • four turbine engines for power and safety
  • lower cost than "next generation" Airtankers
  • extremely long range and mission endurance (4 hours)
  • 3000 gallon payload
  • constant/variable flow RADS II tank system provides line building or full tank initial attack
  • fast turnaround time
  • proven safety record
NEXT GENERATION
BAE 146-200

The BAE 146-200 is a four-engine, jet-powered, capacity or "heavy" air tanker ideal for the aerial control of wildfires.

The BAE 146-200 is fast, maneuverable and capable of carrying over 3000 gallons of fire retardant. Its tremendous power reserve contributes to an excellent margin of safety during the firefighting role. Coupled with Air Spray's internal computerized constant/variable flow IRADS tank, the performance of the BAE 146-200 is unsurpassed by any other jet-powered air tanker.

Key Advantages
  • four engines for exceptional power and speed
  • equipped with Air Spray's state-of-the-art internal retardant delivery system (IRADS), unmatched in performance by any other "next generation" Airtanker aircraft
  • long range and endurance
  • 3000-gallon tank capacity
